The best thing an online marketer can do is make mistakes and fail. The second best thing would be to learn from the failure. This is a smart way to learn. Don’t be afraid to have the internet’s worst website, or to write the most foolish article. Take a queue from reality television. If you notice, the most obnoxious, loud, overbearing fool on the show is the one who ends up lasting the longest, and making the most money.

In addition, ask questions. Go to forums and help people, and ask for advice yourself. Take notes and see what other people are doing to make money. And don’t be afraid to take a few risks. Be original with your content. Be uniquely you, and don’t take shady shortcuts. Your audience will find you and look for more of your content. This is also an edge you will have over the competition.

Create a brand for yourself. This is a very effective online marketing strategy. Be original, and be authentic. Put yourself in your buyer’s shoes, and imagine what kinds of products and services you want to buy.

The most valuable lesson that I have learned is to be myself. This applies to my personal life as well as to my affiliate marketing efforts. It was only when I began to open up, and use my own voice and image online that people began to take notice and relate to me as another person.
