Following on from my last article ‘How To Make Money Online – With Monetising Your Blog’ I have found by far the easiest way to make money online is to create your own email mailing list of people who are interested in your particular niche.

For a second just imagine if you were able to broadcast to a group of people which you knew were going to be extremely interested in what you intended to sell to them. How much do you think this would increase the odds of you making money online?

This type of marketing is called permission marketing, in other words a person on your mailing list has given you permission to go and contact them again when you want to. At anytime they can come off your mailing list if you go to hard sell on them or spam them. But by them being there, it means you can sell when you want to and you do not have to wait for them to visit organically via the search engine, or pay for them to come to your site.

These people have come along once and ‘opted in’ to your mailing list. So if you’d like the easiest way to make money I have found then you’ll need to create a mailing list. My preferred choice is to use one of the paid for services out there, you can get this for free on some sites but this is the most valuable thing you are going to create and marketing mastermind Jay Abrahams says if the building his business was in was on fire then the only thing he’d grab is the mailing list. As with that you can be up and running and making money again later that day!

So there are several of these databases you can join and the cost varies usually depending on the number of subscribers you have on your list. I personally have mailing lists with Awebber, OneShoppingCart and Get Response. There is no point going into a debate as to which one is best. However, if you are intending to create your own products then you will need a shopping cart, so OneShoppingCart may be a good choice. But it is far more expensive than the other two, so I would recommend one of those to start with.

Once you have decided on your ‘host’ and for this example I will say Get Response then you need to create a new list in it, you will find there are stacks of tutorials for this, some within the site and others on places like YouTube. You’ll also need to pull the html ‘code’ from Get Response and place it onto your website. This sounds much worse than it really is and must not scare you off, it is just a case of copy and paste. Also there are stacks of tutorials from WordPress, Get Response, and YouTube which show you how. However, if you do get stuck then there’s also plenty of forums with people willing to help you out for free.

When you have placed your Get Response ‘opt in’ on your website then your consumers will slowly subscribe. However, if you want a lot more of them to join then you will need to give them a strong ‘reason why’ they should do so. This in fact is the ‘magic’ bit where it comes to building your email list and starting to make money. If you can give your subscribers a good enough reason why they should join then you will convert a much, much higher percentage of them into ‘optins.’

As an example, imagine you had a hundred visitors a day coming to your site and you converted just one percent to your mailing list. The ninety-nine percent may well never return. This is the biggest single reason people do not make money online. However, let’s say your subscribers joined at a rate of eight percent or even a lot higher. Then the higher you convert then the more you make money. Each subscriber to your list should be worth at least $1 each month and can sometimes be much more. So just with a couple of thousand people you could be in the enviable position of being able to quit working full time to work part time online from anywhere in the world which can get online! Do you now understand why I have found that building a mailing list is simply the best way I have found to make money?
