If someone comes up to you and mentions “MLM” or “network marketing”, what do you think of first? Depending on your past experiences or stories you’ve heard, you could be thinking of a very powerful home based business, or perhaps have visions of an outright scam.

Lots of people tend to associate this business with “Amway”, which is one of the original MLM opportunities, and one of the pioneers in the industry. The problem is, over the course of a few years, people promoting that opportunity (and similar opportunities) in certain ways has led to a generally negative feeling about MLM in general, and perhaps rightfully so.

When approached about a home business opportunity, were you ever:

- given a glowing sales pitch about a great MLM business opportunity but for the life of you couldn’t get a response if you simply asked the name of the company?

- given an invitation to attend a business opportunity meeting, and asked simply the name of the opportunity, and were given some evasive answer such as “Jack’s Wealth Associates”?

- treated like you were stupid if you dared to ask perfectly legitimate questions about the business?

- attended a MLM business opportunity meeting and been almost to the end before the “A” word was mentioned?

The rationale for taking this blind, secretive approach is easy to understand. If you mention the name of the company up front, a prospect might have some bad information about the business that would stop them from coming and seeing the “real deal”.

Unfortunately, this approach made this company, and MLM, look less than reputable.

Let’s move forward and consider how things are today. It has never been an easy thing for most people to get prospects to a MLM opportunity meeting. This is another reason the curiosity approach was developed. However, in today’s world, people are busier than ever and don’t respond to that approach like they once did.

The good news – despite all the busyness in our society today, there are lots of people out there looking for additional income and financial security. They are no longer looking so much at newspaper and magazine opportunity ads – they are going online to find what they want. This opens a huge door of opportunity for you.

Is it possible that MLM would be an ideal opportunity for you? Consider these things.

- do you like to work with people?

- can you see yourself enjoying talking to prospects who come to you looking for business opportunity information?

- do you have a true need to make money and strong desire to improve your situation?

- are you willing to learn what you need to know, and be coachable?

If your response to these questions is positive, you should take things a step farther and consider what an MLM opportunity can do for you. Read and study the fundamentals of choosing a good opportunity, and get on the path to achieving your dreams.
