However, even in the 21st century, most of America isn’t even aware that this kind of persuasion and influence exists.

Conversational hypnosis allows you to bypass the conscious mind quite easily without setting off any red flags to someone else that you want to use some covert secret tactic. It simply techniques that literally creates an amnesic effect on your potential target.
