Employing 3D Visualisation Technology to Produce Additional Engaging Models.

Back in the day when there wasn’t as many 3D Designers and technology wasn’t advanced and simpler to use, someone who could produce a 3D Visualisation image was seen as a genies. But now as time has moved on it is harder for a designer to stand out amongst the crowd. For a designer it is more common to focus on furthering their developing graphical editing skill, software layout and web design skills which is a great strategy, but the one thing they are missing out on is 3D Visualisation software.

There are various different uses for 3D visualisation software, it can be used to make an image look more eye catching and engaging. For example, creating an image for advertising. With using the 3D Visualisation software a designer can create a realistic image which doesn’t exist in real life, the realistic objects are detailed to extreme, this includes buildings, vechicles, people, trees etc. They can create the image of a city that doesn’t yet exist.

Info-graphics too can be highly enriched through the implementation of 3D visualisation software. A quick search on the internet will show you that the days of the standard pie chart are long gone. Designers can now manipulate and forge seemingly mundane data into bright new shapes and forms. Population densities can be expressed through stunning 3D visuals of buildings growing in height as population increases in an inner city are for example.

For me the most exciting part of of designing is when we can use 3D Visualisation software can be used with typography. This area seems to be looked at with less excitement than other aspects of design and this is mainly with designers who are just starting out. Being told ‘ letters are just abstract marks on a page, it’s only when we put them into a specific order do they create words’, changed my view completely. Instead letters should be seen as a graphical component, if there seen in this way a number of exciting options can become available.

Using 3D Visualisation software can take typography to whole other level. 3 Dimensional effects can be added to letters to create extensive life like features. Characters can be stacked on top or side by each other, size expanded, textures added, colour and lighting etc. Channel 4′s adverts are a great example of the use of 3d Visualisation on typography.

This topic is one i could write about forever. If i could i would be pondering into discussing motion graphics, product design, web design, interface design and everything else that comes with it. I won’t as i’m only looking to put a thought into your head. If your a designer don’t overlook 3d visualisation technology as a strong tool that adds extra to your creative outcome. It could be the thing that pulls you from the rut that designers can easily fall into.

If you look at it in this perceptive, with more methods of creativeness, the easier it is to overcome bland and boring designs.
