Printing Services Progress And Development Over The Years
Print medium even today is a very popular mode of disseminating information to a vast range of people. The printing services industry has seen tremendous growth over the decades and continues to grow at a steady rate even now. Today it is able to not only satisfy customers’ printing requirements but also other associated needs as well.
Bulk printing services first began sometime in the–00′s when Gutenberg invented the first printing press and the whole concept of relief printing came into being. In relief printing the printed image appears raised from the background, just as you see in a rubber stamp. These days relief printing is not as popular and has very restricted uses.
Printing techniques have changed greatly down the years, and these transformations have been driven by upcoming of newer technologies. Modern printing methods are quite varied and come to a variety of uses. Most customers are in fact dazed by the abundance of printing choices before them.
One of the most well known printing techniques in the industry today is offset printing. In this method, the image is transmitted onto paper from a metal plate on which the image is first printed by the use of small amount of ink. This cheap and quick technique of printing is highly favoured and used when mass printing is needed.
Other printing methods that have come up with advancements in technology are electrostatic printing, which is akin to photocopying, and thermal printing, which uses a procedure of selective heating of coated thermal paper.
However, the newest revolution in printing technology is digital printing. As the name suggests it uses a computer to create an image, which is then previewed and if found to be faultless, printed onto paper. This method is flawless and quick, but it is best suited only for a restricted number of prints. As the printer can modify each print in this method, it can be employed for computer form printing, where items such as receipts or invoices can be printed for different clients, with each having the same format but varying contents.
Another significant development in printing has dawned with the advent of the internet. Most printing firms have their own websites that allow clients to conveniently place orders and check out designs and templates, without them having to go all the way to the firm’s premises for this reason.
Printing has always taken giant evolutionary jumps with the advancement in technology. The best thing about this trend is that it will stay on track well into the future and keep enhancing the quality and cost effectiveness of printing services.
