Movies like “He’s Not Just Into You” caused an uproar when the character of Drew Barrymore made a sweeping statement about how dependent she has become to her communications, particularly her Blackberry phone.

There are some countries that cannot even use these phones because they use different communications systems, but this does not lower the demand of the phones in the least. People want to have what is popular and this is popular.

One reason to why it is so popular is that it makes it so easy for people with phones to access their email. This is very important for people who are always on the go and cannot sit in front of their computers to wait for the important email that they are expecting.

Another reason for its popularity is that the user does not need a laptop to surf the Internet. Even when travelling in a train or a plane, the surfing can be done with ease. Simply go on the application and voila! roaming and surfing is instant. This is especially helpful if the user is driving and is not familiar with the area. Going on Google maps will instantly give directions to wherever it is that they need to go.

With the Blackberry phones, there is no need for the user to bring along an iPod just to listen to favourite music. This phone also has the same capabilities as the iPod and can store and play all the favourite music files as well as download files from iTunes.

For kids, and the young at heart, the iPod means playlists can be listened to at any time. This is also possible with the Blackberry phones for it can surf and download the music that is searched for. The earplugs can also be used just like the iPod. Again, surfing and listening to music simultaneously increases its popularity even more.

Applications are very popular among the young and the techie and these phones have just what they need. However, this can never compete with the applications that the iPhone can give but that is easily remedied by simply downloading them.

Smartphones like the Blackberry phones are so popular that it is strange they have not made this internationally compatible for there are a lot of people outside of the US that also want these phones for the same reasons stated above.
