If you are planning on renting out a personal storage space for keeping some of your personal belongings, you must be mindful of what things could be stored in a personal warehouse and what items are prohibited. In order for you to be properly informed, you can bring a list of the things you wish to put in the storage facility and consult with the warehouse facility manager in order to receive proper counsel. The following, for your reference, are some of the most common types of items that cannot be kept in self-storage facilities.
Materials that are classed as inherently dangerous must not be stored in a personal storage unit. Kerosene lamps, motor oil, grease, fertilizers, paint, biological wastes, and/or items or substances that are combustible, biohazardous, toxic, or flammable are a few of the materials or substances that are samples of the inherently hazardous category. Furthermore, stolen goods, illegal narcotics, contraband and smuggled goods should not be placed in personal storage as well. These objects may be counted as evidence in case the tenant is arrested.
There are a number of facilities that can cater to tenants wanting to have storage space for perishables. Nevertheless, a great majority of personal warehouses do not currently have this feature so they ban the storage of animal products and/or other perishables, such as food. Aside from the high possibility of spoilage, these goods also have the potential of drawing insects and/or pests. Thus, in order to avoid causing inconvenience to the warehouse staff and to other tenants, it would be do good if you confer with your storehouse unit manager before storing goods that you doubt the category of in your personal storehouse.
