SEO Keywords – 10 Must Do’s
By Michael Bunn
SEO keywords is just a small part of SEO web design as there is more to it than meets the eye. Knowing what keywords to use is just the start but where and how to use them is what can make all the difference in your search engine rankings.
1. All webpage’s that are built should be based on profitable long tail keywords, otherwise webpage’s will either be based on a keyword no one is searching for or the competition for a particular keyword is so great that you will never be found in search engines.
2. The first place a keyword should be used is in the file name or name of that webpage, for example a webpage using the keyword “web design” would look like this in a web browser when you are viewing that page. http://www.your-domain-name.com/web-design
3. A SEO keyword should also be used in the meta tag title, description and keyword. The meta tag title would be “web design”, and then the keyword should be used in the description for example “Find out all you need to know about web design and other aspects of website development”. Then also the meta keyword tag should also contain “web design”.
4. If you are using a navigational bar or in text content links that link from one webpage to another you should always use the chosen keyword of the webpage you are linking to. So if you are linking to a webpage based on web design from your home page then the link must say web design or have it included within the link.
5. Always link out of a webpage once using the chosen keyword, for example you could have a link at the bottom of your webpage that is based on web design that says “Exit web design and return to the home page”.
6. Always have a title at the top of your webpage that includes your chosen keyword. You can use html header codes that will do the job just fine. title
7. Always use the chosen SEO keyword at least once within the first 100 characters of content.
8. Never use the keyword more than twice in the first 500 characters.
9. Use the chosen keyword throughout you webpage without keyword stuffing your webpage.
10. Try and use your chosen keywords when building incoming links from other website whether it is directories or webmasters you exchange links with. Also use keywords in articles you submit as every little helps.
Remember there are many variables that need to be applied when doing SEO web design and keywords is just a small part of it.
