Four Millionaires in Two Years – The Maths!
We’re talking about big numbers here!
No, I don’t just mean 4 MILLION I mean the vast numbers of people who use the internet and are active on social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, My Space and so on.
In March 2008 it was estimated that there 1,407,724,920 global internet users.
A few years ago the much reported and often copied presentation Shift Happens noted that if My Space were a country it would be the eight largest in the world.
Facebook, today, is bigger.
With over 200 million active users (100 million of whom log in once a day) Facebook is a force to be reckoned with.
AND IT’S NOT JUST teenagers!
The fastest growing demographic are those in the 35 years and older category.
30 million of Facebooks active users are accessing their accounts via mobile phones.
MySpace claims around 130 million active users worldwide
Twitter is, of course, the most dynamic of the social media platforms. It is difficult to get a real feel for. As of April 2009 we guessing at around 6 million registered users with an expectation that it will double by the end this year. Of those registered users it seems like around 10% provide 90% of the content.
But here’s the point.
Your business, social and marketing networks are global and within easy reach. It has never been easier to have links to and relationships with so many people who are coming together for the sole purpose of networking. It doesn’t take a genius to see the potential here.
So back to the maths of four millionaires in two years.
The law of numbers means that it must be possible.
From a sales perspective if only a small percentage of the people accessible through your existing networks brought something off you for 50p (50c) you’d be well on your way to reaching that crazy target.
It only leaves TWO questions…
HOW do you access these people and HOW does that turn into money?
